Furry Photos by Sharon Montrose

This is one of those ideas that you wish you had thought of!  Sharon Montrose beat us to the punch:  she combines her love of animals and photography.  By melding her two passions she creates perfect photos for any home or nursery.  A modern and simple backdrop makes a spot for these cute baby animals to shine!  Add these prints to your gift list if you have any pregnant friends!

All images can be purchased here.

My List is Full... and I'm happy about it!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I'm ready for some projects!  No out of town trips - just me and a huge list of fun things to do.  Two projects are included in the previous Master Bedroom post and then the other is a dining room project.  Hopefully I can get all of it finished for you guys by next week!

DINING ROOM INSPIRATION:  Black Crow Studios creates graphic wallpapers and murals in a new way!  They have a very edgy touch and are creative to say the least!  I'm using this inspiration pic for my dining room walls - stay tuned for the before and afters!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Wax Is In!

While hanging out at the local art store, I stumbled across the encaustic supplies... I was like "hmm... melting wax, pouring it over a canvas? Sounds perfect!"  This was my first attempt and it won't be my last! I like this process and the outcome creates exactly what I"m looking for right now!  What do you think?  Ever worked with wax before?

Tape.
So the wax will dry within the edges

Melt.
I recommend a salon style wax melting pot

 Pour!

Dry!

So it was supposed to go over the edges... guess I didn't have enough wax?  Plus, it dried SO fast!  That's ok, I kind of like the way it dried!  I'm still experimenting with this material...  more wax projects to come!

Thanks for stopping by!

Art Fair Saturday

The George R. Brown Convention Center hosted the Houston Fine Art Fair over the weekend.  It was really fun and featured galleries from the United States, Latin America, and Europe.   What a treat to see the works of such famous artists like Warhol and Rauschenberg (especially Rauschenberg) :).  However, nothing captured my attention like Margaret Thatcher Projects Gallery, who featured an eye catching contemporary "paper" artist.

I'm apologizing in advance for all of my posts about paper lately, but I can not seem to escape it!

Adam Fowler,   quickly sketches his loop designs in graphite or charcoal and then the slow and steady work begins.  For weeks at a time he meticulously cuts his woven lace-like design with an exacto.  In the end it is a thin and delicately crafted web.  The numerous designs are layered to create one piece with a lot depth.  Some of his works layer as many as 50 sheets!

It was a pleasure talking with the gallery about his process and the work itself.

When my boyfriend and I literally had a physical reaction to his art, we knew it was the best we were going to see at the fair.  We kind of just quickly walked through the rest of the fair but were really only thinking about getting back over to look at Adam Fowler's work again!  Haha!
